Super Visa.

The Super Visa is a multiple-entry visitor visa for parents and grandparents. It allows single-stay visits of up to five years without the need to extend and remains an important alternative where PGP intake is not available.

Who this is for

Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who want to spend extended time in Canada without pursuing permanent residence.

Decision factors

  • Relationship to a Canadian citizen or PR host
  • Host's household income meeting Low Income Cut-Off or higher
  • Medical insurance from a Canadian or approved international provider
  • Ties abroad and intent to return

Evidence commonly needed

  • Invitation letter from the host with income evidence
  • Notice of assessment or equivalent income documents
  • Approved medical insurance certificate
  • Passport, medical exam and travel history

Process

  1. Consultation to assess eligibility and any refusal risks
  2. Preparation of the invitation, income and insurance package
  3. Submission of the temporary resident visa application
  4. Preparation for potential further document requests

Risks and honest limits

Officers assess intent and finances carefully. Weak invitation packages and thin ties abroad remain common reasons for refusal.
