The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants
(A Transition from ICCRC as on November 23, 2021)
As a measure to protect the interest of the public in general, and to hamper the rampant immigration fraud practices outside and inside Canada, on November 23, 2021 the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants has been set out under The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants Act.
Some of you might be familiar with the ICCRC (Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council), which is now continued as the College as on November 23, 2021.
The College Act gives the College investigation and enforcement powers like other professional regulatory bodies (for example, law societies, accounting regulators etc) and thereby enables a strict action upon those not in compliance.
Any Immigration or Citizenship advice provided by individuals not licensed under the regime or not otherwise authorised to provide immigration advice outside and inside Canada will be hence against the law. It is very important for you as an applicant to be aware of this monumental update, and to be cautious of choosing a licensed, competent consultant for your immigration needs.
A Public Registry lets you check verify the licensure of your representative. Be sure to check before you hire a consultant.
